Thomas Haiti School
- 150 students are to be provided a school lunch during school years 2011, 2012, 2013
- One in 6 people in Haiti are hungry. Most have only a single meal a day.
- 1.5 Million homeless 900,000 hungry
- Estimated cost per child $1.50 per lunch
- Often times only meal of the day
Program is to establish a school lunch program for children attending the Methodist Church School of Thomas, Haiti. In addition, as the program expands, we plan to provide education and other development programs to the community. These include sustainable agriculture training, a clean water initiative and English and computer classes.
This will be an ongoing program intended for duplication in other areas of Haiti. The prospective partners in this program include UMCOR, UMVIM, The Methodist Church of Haiti, corporate sponsors and consultants, and additional non-profits in Haiti. We continue to seek advisors on nutrition, education, clean water and sustainable agriculture to further strengthen the program.
